Free Search Engine Traffic Or Pay-Per-Click?
The best way to drive traffic to your website is with free search engine traffic. This brings quality traffic that
converts well. Much of the paid ad traffic bounces right off sites. Many ads are clicked by mistake, or just out of curiosity rather than by serious consumers looking to buy your product or services.
I’ll give one example: Let’s say someone is using an online dictionary to look up the spelling of a word. This word just so happens to match one of your keywords that you use in an online pay-per-click advertisement campaign.
Your ad randomly shows up on the dictionary page, the person looking up the spelling sees the ad and out of curiosity clicks your ad.
They come to the site, look for about two seconds, and then return to what they were doing. You just passed out free money for nothing. That’s not cyber smart!

Well, I agree that SEO traffic is more fun than paid traffic and it’s where everyone should start, IMO.
Can’t start fiddling with paid traffic unless the free traffic is already making you enough money to cushion some initial losses.
Having said that, I’m definitely going to branch out into paid traffic at some point in the near future. I think for certain sites, a combination of some basic SEO plus PPC traffic might be golden.

Paid traffic can be a part of the deal for sure. You just have to be real smart about it, and your idea of getting some cash flow first is a good one.
